For Active Duty Service Members:
- USO Welcome Centers Click here to find your nearest USO center! Many of our centers conduct special events such as big game watch parties, and movie nights just for active duty service members.
- Are you new to Hampton Roads or Central Virginia? Ask a volunteer for information on your new duty station.
- Traveling to the area on orders and need information on transportation? Visit the USO located at your nearest regional Airport and ask our knowledgeable volunteers or staff.
- United Through Reading Service members about to deploy can stop by their nearest USO center and ask to record a United Through Reading session. This program allows service members to record a video of his or herself reading a book of their choosing to the children. The book along with the DVD recording are then mailed to the service member’s family. This program allows service members to remain a part of their family’s everyday life even though he or she may not be physically present.
- The USO has a variety of age appropriate books for you to choose from. The DVD recording session as well as the shipping is complimentary.
- Some parents of older children use this opportunity to stay integrated with the family’s growing needs. For example, one service member recorded a video of himself reading the Driver’s Education manual to his 15 year old twin sons.
